Patricio Zamorano and his band represents the diversity of the Americas, with the talent and artistic commitment of César Mazad Guarcax (Mayan-Guatemalan), Xavier Bure (Peruvian Quechua-Ecuadorian Saraguro), Joey Vega (Puerto Rico), Juan Maldonado (Ecuadorian), Philippe De Pontet (American), Lisa Llanos (American-Chilean), and singer-songwriter Patricio Zamorano (Chilean), Artistic Director. Patricio Zamorano studied with renowned folklore artist and singer Margot Loyola, the major researcher of ancient folk tradition in her home country of Chile.
They bring communities together around our Latino instruments, among them the charango, quena, quenacho, zampoña (VIDEO), moceño, caja, bombo and tarkas, that–along with the modern touch of guitar, bass and Latino percussion.
Patricio Zamorano and his band have performed extensively in the US and Latin America. In the Metro DC area, they have shared their music at innumerable community events, churches, and cultural centers. They have also performed on the stages of well-known venues like the Smithsonian Institution (Museum of the American Indian), the Kennedy Center (see also, on the news), the Carnegie Institution, the Gala Theater, Georgetown University, American University, the Institute for Policy Studies, the Organization of American States, and the embassies of Bolivia, Chile, Argentina (and flyer), Colombia, México (SHORT VIDEO WITH SELECTION OF SONGS), Cuba, El Salvador and Uruguay, among others.
